UFO2Extraterrestrials: Shadows over Earth release date

Postby raziel_malakai » Thu Jan 09, 2014 6:36 am

So...the home page of UFO2ET says that Shadows over Earth is being developed in parallel to Battle for Mercury. Therefore, I'd be glad to hear of any news regarding Shadows over Earth and not only battle for Mercury. How are the titles going to be linked to one another? Is one a sequel/prequel to the other or are they two plots that happen in different parts of the solar system/galaxy? Jessie Black, could you please comment regarding this?

Thanks in advance!

I was really looking forward to Shadows over Earth and was a little disappointed to hear it was going to be Battle for Mercury. Which is odd considering the tiny amount of information known about either. It was probably that I liked the idea of keeping it close to the Earth to better replicate the low tech start of X-Com. Battles for mercury seemed more advanced than that.

To have both games running can't be anything other than good news.

The developers try to finish a UFO based game so that it could come out as soon as possible. They decided to prioritize Battle for Mercury, on which they have been working intensively.

What's the difference between the two?
Different features? Or just different stories?
Different mechanics?

Anything you could tell me would be much appreciated, thanks :)

I was led to believe that the first one had been shelved for so long that it was badly outdated and so they started almost from scratch again, basing the new one on Mercury instead.

Still, not long to go before release now. Anytime between the first of April and the last day of June according to them and I have no reason to expect otherwise since naturally, they would of course have told us long before now if that time period was no longer feasible.
