Convert Gold Edition into Vanilla - For Mod Compatibility

This guide explains how to convert the Gold Edition (aka Lite Bman's Easy Mod) into the original version (Vanilla). This will make your game compatible with the community mods.

After converting your game you may want to try the complete version of Bman's Easy Mod.

The complete version of Bman's Easy Mod has more content and fixes some major bugs from the Gold Edition, like the game crashing when selling buildings repeatedly or the unlimited Desert Spirit vehicles exploit.

Steps

1. Optional: backup the following files:

UFO Extraterrestrials Gold\data\bman.xbg
UFO Extraterrestrials Gold\data\geoscape.xbg
UFO Extraterrestrials Gold\data\system.xbg
UFO Extraterrestrials Gold\UFO_ET.exe

2. Delete the file bman.xbg (and the bmaneaseofuse.ini if it exists)

3. Replace geoscape.xbg with the vanilla version.

4. Apply the official patch - patch2

This patch includes all the fixes from previous patch1 and will copy the following files to your installation folder:

.data\patch.xbg
.data\system.xbg
patch2.txt
ProjectX.exe
UFO_ET.exe

ProjectX.exe and UFO_ET.exe are binary identical. So, if you want, delete ProjectX.exe.

Now, your game is no more the Gold version (EN-20091004 BMan’s Mod) but the Vanilla version (EN-20071001).

how do you install the full bman mod I tried but its just a random file (cant remember what it's called :( )

quick question is it a bug where you have to double click to move items from your inventory etc or can this be changed ?

I tried to convert my gold edition to "plain vanilla" but I don't know where to get the vanilla version of the geoscape.xbg.

Can anyone please help me I all of a sudden keep getting a runtime error whenever I try to start the vanilla or bman version of the game. The gold version works perfectly fine though so I have no idea how to fix this :(

After hours of searching and trying different things I finally found a fix on some Japanese website on like page 7 on google.

[Trouble]
Can not start • Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Out and the like

Solution 1. Applocale was used to specify the U'zbek, be modified in binary editor based on the following information or to start over it.

Solution 2. Stirling rewrite the language code acquisition part of the .exe using a binary editor, etc.

Take a backup of 1.UFO_ET.exe

Open the property of 2.UFO_ET.exe remove if with a check in the read-only (Read Only)

Open the UFO_ET.exe in 3.binary editor

UFO_ET.exe 2007/09/17 15:55 F258D40F140267C89714F17E83D4CD37

15 18 21 FF 5D 00 → B8 5A 03 00 00 90
FF 15 1C 21 5D 00 → B8 E4 04 00 00 90
Find the left of the string is replaced with the right. Be sure to do a hexadecimal display part of the left in the overwrite mode.

ProjectX.exe of Europe English version executable made from compatibility issues to be added in the patch replaces all because the corresponding point there is more than one. There is no need to use most ProjectX.exe itself usually.

UFO_ET_OptimizedTrueNightP2.Exe

By replacing the above with the same procedure, etc., so as it can also be used in the Japanese environment.

UFO Extraterrestrials Language patched Executables
It had been raised related to three of the treated executable. Although tried once to start-up, there may be Error because the work was done manually.
